Student Growth/Instructional Facilities Sub-Committee
Facility Study Committee
Tomball Independent School District
August 15, 2006
Chairman: Brent Lapsley
Co-Chairman: Rocky Fischer
Co-secretaries: SueAnne Wake and Anne Miesen
Facilitators: Dr. Darlene Blair and Huey Kinchen
The meeting was a joint meeting of all three Facility Study subcommittees in the Tomball High School Auditorium. Meeting minutes were taken by Anne Miesen.
1. All meeting attendees received a copy of 26 page enrollment analysis and growth projections, which was reviewed in detail by David Schuelke, Assistant Superintendent for Ancillary Services.
2. Tomball H.S. maximum capacity has gone from 3,000 to 3,702 since last bond election. Facility is being used in different ways, portables, building additions, etc. However, the revised operational capacity for THS (and the figure this subcommittee should use) is 3,628.
3. A map of the school district, marked with current subdivisions was included in the information packet.
4. A Metro Study was also included with potential future subdivision developments, including The Woodlands. The Woodlands development could include over 4,900 homes. Developments outside The Woodlands, but in TISD, that are in concept stage number 2,188.
5. Assume a factor of .95 school age children per household.
6. Bottom line: Projections vs. capacity analysis five years out (2010-2011) indicate:
Without Woodlands Development
THS 85.01%
TJH 72.8%
Intermediate 93.3%
Elementary 118.5%
With Woodlands
THS 103.78%
TJH 89.92%
Intermediate 116.22%
Elementary 146.13%
